About the School

Building site of Milton Court

Milton Court construction project

Milton Court is part of a bigger development that includes private residential accommodation and mixes living and working spaces with the performing arts. It puts the Guildhall School at the heart of an internationally significant cultural and educational quarter, forming the hub for the School’s growing relationships with the LSO and the Barbican Centre. In addition, the School’s facilities at long last match the outstanding quality of its training and the success of its graduates.

The design for Milton Court and The Heron was originally conceived by David Walker Architects, initially on behalf of the City of London Corporation. When Heron International won the competition to become the Corporation’s development partner for the site, it appointed RHWL Architects as lead consultant, with David Walker Architects as design architect and RHWL Arts Team as architect and designer for the new Guildhall School of Music & Drama facility.

The construction project, which began in July 2010, was completed in July 2013. Read more about the construction of Milton Court:
