Born in England but educated at a German Steiner school, Rachel returned to study first with Perry Hart, then at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with David Takeno, Pauline Scott and Micaela Comberti. She was appointed Concert Master of English Concert in 1997, touring extensively as leader and soloist, and is a member of the Palladian Ensemble. She has given solo and recital performances across Europe and is frequently heard on BBC radio. Her recently released CDs of Bach’s Sonatas and Partitas have received great acclaim.
Rachel has taught at the Guildhall School since 1995, and also teaches regularly at the Hochschule in Bremen.
