
The Guildhall Jazz Summer School has something for everyone, at every age and level of experience, in a wide range of styles embracing jazz, rock, latin, funk, gospel, blues, studio music and more. It's a fun, happy, encouraging and vibrant place to try something new or expand your skills. Auditions are not required.

This year we are offering:
A large group workshop on jazz, gospel, African and world music led over 2 days by Scott Stroman, Lee Gibson, Gitika Partington, Lucky Moyo and guests, culminating in a concert on the Sunday night.
The long-running course for instrumentalists and singers begins on the Sunday afternoon and finishes with a concert on the last evening. All ages and abilities, and both instruments/vocalists, are welcome! The course includes jazz & rock bands, big bands, vocal groups, classes in harmony, rhythm, and improvisation, instrumental and vocal technique, rock and latin workshops, midi/studio music, recording sessions, concerts and "the club" each night - it's a busy and vibrant week. Daily tuition sessions run from 10am until 5:30pm. Tutor concerts are held from 7-8pm each evening followed by the Club from 8:30 to 10:30pm.

One Week Jazz & Rock Course: £460
The course fee does not include accommodation. However, accommodation for students aged 18 and over is available in self-catered flats in the School’s Hall of Residence, Sundial Court, at a special rate of £35.25 (bed & breakfast) / £44.50 (bed, breakfast & dinner). Unfortunately we are unable to offer bursaries for the Jazz Summer School. However, young candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds and resident in one of the City, Fringe and London Gateway Boroughs may be eligible for one of the four assisted places available for the one week Jazz & Rock Course. Age range: suitable for anyone aged 12 and over. There is no upper age limit for the Jazz Summer School.
