Guildhall School awards honorary fellowships for services to Music and Drama

This year's honorands include composer George Benjamin, guitarist Julian Bream and Sir Nicholas Hytner

The Guildhall School of Music & Drama has awarded seven honorary fellowships for services to music and drama and three fellowships to distinguished professors and alumni. The awards were conferred by the Guildhall School's Board of Governors at the 2009 graduation ceremony.

Receiving the HonFGS were composer George Benjamin, director and educationalist Luca Biagiotti, former Trustee of the Guildhall School Trust Bob Boas, guitarist Julian Bream, pianist Richard Goode, director of the National Theatre Sir Nicholas Hytner and the former chair of the Guildhall School's board of governors and City of London Deputy Catherine McGuinness. At the same ceremony three distinguished professors/alumni of the Guildhall School were made Fellows, namely Richard Baker, joint Head of Composition, singer and Radio 3 presenter Catherine Bott and the School's Resident Opera Producer Martin Lloyd-Evans. Catherine Bott made an acceptance speech on behalf of all the recipients.
