IT facilities

The School's Information Technology department has as its core purpose, the provision of access to up-to-date computing resources, empowering the Guildhall School community to make effective use of technologies in their respective tasks. The I.T. department also assesses emerging technologies and works towards applying these in innovative ways to the furtherance of the Guildhall School's mission.

IT Facilities

Upon enrolment students are provided with an I.T. account with secure file storage space and email address which will give them free access to the facilities.

The I.T. area in the Library provides a number of PCs, open access terminals, printers and scanners for use by students, all of which are linked to the School's file and mail servers. Additional facilities are available in the Students' Common Room.

Each workstation has access to Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office. The facilities available include Internet access, email, presentation graphics, word-processing and desktop publishing software, spreadsheets and Sibelius music composition software. Students' email and files may also be accessed remotely via a web portal. Students may also apply to connect their own laptops to wireless access points situated around the School or use the wired network in their own study bedrooms in the Sundial Court Hall of Residence.

Specialist computer-aided design, printing and A0 plotting facilities are provided for students in the Technical Theatre department, using industry standard Autocad software, WYSIWYG and Adobe Photoshop. A Computer-Aided Design room is equipped with Pentium IV PCs and 19" monitors and projector. Student production offices are also furnished with PCs and printers.
