The Gold Medal Dinner

The Gold Medal Dinner is an annual fundraising event held in honour of the winner of the Gold Medal, the School's most prestigious music prize.
The 2009 event took place in the impressive surroundings of the Cutlers' Hall on Wednesday 13 May. Gary Griffiths, winner of the Gold Medal 2009, gave an exclusive recital performance for the guests with his accompanist Nico de Villiers. Jonathan Sells, runner-up and winner of the Glass Trophy, was also in attendance along with finalists Derek Welton and Susana Gaspar.
The evening raised over £12,000 in support of talented young musicians studying at the Guildhall School. This generous support has ensured that two individuals were able to take up their hard-won places at the School in September and take their first steps towards professional music careers.
