Snapshot Songs: open call for singers
Snapshotsongs is a new music project bringing together 150 musicians and singers to create and perform a song-cycle celebrating the many voices of London today, at the Guildhall School's brand new Milton Court Concert Hall.
People of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to join, and the ability to read music is not required. What is necessary however is enthusiasm, confidence and a passion for singing, whether it’s Jazz, Classical, Indie, R 'n' B, Soul, or poetry and spoken word. Artists already involved include Drum Heads, Barbican Young Poets and London’s finest youth orchestra - the London Schools Symphony Orchestra.
Auditions for our new music project will take place on Sat 16 and Sun 17 Nov.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for 75 choir members and 25 soloists, comprising of great singers and spoken word artists from all ages, musical backgrounds and experience.
What should I expect?
If you've not been to an audition before, don't worry - you do not need to prepare anything.
Like the taster sessions, we will do a fun group workshop. However, we will ask participants to sing by themselves at some point.
We will audition roughly 15 people at a time. All participants will go through the same audition process and will be considered for both the choir and the solos.
How long will the audition take?
Each audition will last 30 minutes.
Where do the auditions take place?
At the Guildhall School of Music and Drama's new state-of-the-art venue, Milton Court Concert Hall, just around the corner from the Barbican Centre, London (EC2).
How do I sign up for a slot?
You need to sign up on the Snapshot Songs website to receive more details and sign up for the auditions. *Please note* that places are limited, so please contact us soon to guarantee your place.
What happens after the auditions?
Chosen soloists may be invited to a second audition on Sat 30 Nov.
