About the School

The Guildhall School is a vibrant, international community of young musicians, actors and production artists in the heart of the City of London.

Rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework and ranked as the UK’s top conservatoire in the Guardian University Guide 2019 for Music, the School is a global leader of creative and professional practice which promotes innovation, experiment and research, with over 1,000 students in higher education, drawn from nearly 60 countries around the world.

The School is also the UK’s leading provider of specialist music training at the under-18 level with nearly 2,500 students in Junior Guildhall and the Centre for Young Musicians.

Our new facilities at Milton Court are now open, with the first public events taking place in autumn 2013. The new building, virtually over the road from the main Silk St building, houses world-class performance facilities.

Research is a thriving part of the School. Bringing students, staff, visiting artists and academics together, it creates space to experiment, reflect and to explore fundamental questions which inform our practice as artists.

Our alumni include some of the world's most recognised names in music and drama, and our alumni community is made up of people all over the world practising their craft.

Studying at the Guildhall enables you to learn from leading international artists and practitioners, including some of the world's most recognised names on our staff.
