Rebekah Alero

Sound Artist and Composer

Rebekah is a Sound Artist and Composer. Her work focuses on improvisation, extended techniques and electronic music, as well as the use of field recordings to bring more unique elements to her sound. She is a Bass guitar player which she sometimes brings into other parts of her sound set up (Synthesisers, MAX/MSP).

Upon graduating from Guildhall she will be remaining in academia and begin studying MA Musicology at Goldsmiths University, where she will further her research and studies on the work of black classical composers and their experiences within the field.

What’s one thing that your PACE training has taught you?

PACE has taught me the importance of self reflection as an artist, and documenting my practice as I grow. This has enabled me to take a look at what I really wish to achieve as an artist and how it will fit outside institutions.

How would you define the training on PACE?

PACE as a whole, encourages freedom to play, think and create as well as putting those acts into the Enterprise side of our art forms, through funding, producing etc. Something that is very important for artists today. No side was left unturned during my time on PACE. My artistry and thinking was nurtured in a way that I will be eternally grateful for!
