One of the best things about PACE is it's very experiential - you are not just thinking about the theory of it but you are actually putting in the work and you get to experience both sides of it.

BA Performance & Creative Enterprise

Guildhall School’s pioneering BA (Hons) Performance and Creative Enterprise (PACE) programme was established in 2015 as a joint initiative between Guildhall and the Barbican, through their shared Creative Learning division. Its aim was to train visionary, socially engaged, multi-disciplinary, autonomous artists.

From the outset, the programme was closely aligned with the rapidly shifting UK arts industry and students were empowered to enter the industry with confidence upon graduation and disrupt pre-existing structural hierarchies, forging a more inclusive, collaborative industry for the future.

PACE is a highly representative programme, training artists from a diverse range of socio-economic backgrounds; gender identities; ethnicities and sexualities. Its students are resilient, politically engaged and highly skilled in a variety of different disciplines, including theatre, music, film, dance, poetry and performance art. The students are supported by a world-class team of teachers and visiting artists who all work regularly in the professional industry.

In July 2021, PACE will close in its existing format to allow for new courses to be designed that will take forward PACE’s ground-breaking work within the School. These new courses will sit at the heart of Guildhall’s developing work around interdisciplinary; socially engaged and collaborative arts practice.

Chapters Festival

Early this October, the graduating BA PACE class of 2020 presented an eclectic festival of brand-new performance. From immersive soundscapes to spoken word and rap theatre, and from experimental short films to stand-up comedy, Chapters celebrated the plurality, politics and ferocious power of PACE.

Watch all the performances online for free on the Chapters Festival page until 30 October.
