Guildhall Young Artists Norwich Open Days

If you are interested in joining Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Norwich we would encourage you to attend an Open Day.

Our Open Days will give you an opportunity to visit music and drama classes, meet our specialist tutors, discover our facilities and ask questions.

If you are interested in one of our music courses, there will be practical opportunities to try out instruments too. Each term we will focus on different instrument groups, so if you are interested in experiencing something in particular, or you aren't sure what instrument you would like to play, we encourage you to have a look at the scheduled open days below.

Open days will be relaxed and informal, with all students invited to bring a family member or carer with them.

Upcoming Open Days are listed below. Sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about new Open Days and other opportunities at GYA Norwich.

Open Day FAQs

Do I have to attend for the whole time (from 11.30am–1.30pm)?

We recommend that you stay for the full session so you can see for yourself the many choices available to you.

You will be given a timetable that will include an introduction with a Guildhall School Graduate, a tour of the classes in action and an option to join in with existing classes.

For students interested in our music courses there will also be an option to join in with one of our tailored classes. Different instruments will be available to try on different open days, with classes tailored around these instruments — find out more about these underneath the open days listed above. These classes are ideal if you have no previous music experience, don't own an instrument or if you would like to try something new.

Please note, there will be a short break during your visit, which will include entertainment from the GYA Norwich choir!

I'm a parent/carer and I'd really like to attend with my child. Is that OK?

We are very happy for parents or carers to attend. Please select this as an option on when completing the application form.

Will I be able to experience a class for myself?

Yes, there will be opportunities to take part in classes with other people attending the open day and existing GYA Norwich students.

Will I have an opportunity to speak with teachers or students?

Yes, there will be opportunities to ask questions and speak to GYA tutors.

I am interested in the Music Course and already play an instrument — do I need to bring this?

If you already play an instrument, we encourage you to bring this so that you can fully immerse yourself in the classes. However, this is not a requirement and you are just as welcome to observe.

I'm a bit nervous, will I be expected to do anything on the day?

GYA Norwich takes pride in being a welcoming, encouraging and creative space. We understand the importance of learning in a supportive environment in a way that is right for you. You are welcome to observe or to take part, we will be led by you.

I have a disability – do I need to let you know?

To give you the best experience we can, please add any relevant information or requirements when completing the application form.

Who do I contact to answer further questions?

Please forward any queries to and we will pass on to the relevant member of staff.

I've attended an Open Day, but I'm still not sure. What are my options?

If you enjoyed your visit but you’d like to experience some more classes for yourself and get a better understanding of our centre, you might like to sign up for a free taster session. Or if you decide that GYA Norwich is the right place for you, you may wish to sign up for the term!
