Laura Roberts AGSM

Laura Roberts gave her concerto debut at the age of 13 and subsequently studied with Imogen Cooper for several years, becoming a student at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She played for Andras Schiff, Richard Goode and Vlado Perlemuter in masterclasses at Dartington Summer School and Prussia Cove International Musician’s Seminar.

As  a student at the Guildhall she won the Mozart Prize as well as awards from Myra Hess Trust, the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, the English Speaking Union and the Cripplegate Foundation.

Laura has performed widely as soloist and chamber musician, working extensively with Eugene Asti, with whom she played much of the repertoire for piano duet. She appeared with Eugene in his Brahms series at St John’s Smith Square and in the Mendelssohn plus series at St George’s Brandon Hill, Bristol. She has also played with Caroline Palmer at the Wigmore Hall and with Arisa Fujita at LSO St Luke’s.

Laura Roberts is currently completing a book on Clara Schumann which will be published by Ashgate Publishing later this year. She has given lecture performances in the UK and abroad, appearing in a Schumann Symposium at LSO St Luke’s in London and a series of study days on Schubert at the Wigmore Hall in collaboration with Julian Philips.  Later this year she will return to the Wigmore Hall for study days focusing on the chamber music of Gabriel Fauré.

Laura Roberts is a professor of piano at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama where she has taught since 1992. She has also been an external examiner for the Royal College of Music.
