Malcolm Singer MA(Cantab)

The composer and conductor Malcolm Singer is Director of Music at the Yehudi Menuhin School, and a professor of composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He read music at Magdalene College Cambridge before studying in Europe with both Nadia Boulanger and Gyorgy Ligeti. He was awarded a Harkness Fellowship, spending two years at Stanford University, California and was Director of Music of London’s Zemel Choir for ten years.

He is much in demand as a composer, and has written works for both the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Singers. Recent works include Rites and Rituals, for the Sibelius Academy Orchestra in Helsinki, Dragons, for children's choir and orchestra, commissioned by Surrey Youth Music and Performing Arts and Elegy for violin solo written in memory of Lord Menuhin.
