Stephen Keavy (natural trumpet)
For more than 30 years Stephen has pursued a very happy and varied career as a freelance musician, teacher and instrument maker.
In earlier years Stephen played regularly in symphony and chamber orchestras, contemporary music and brass ensembles, West End shows and commercial studios. Increasingly, he has specialised in early music chamber orchestral playing, building a reputation as a baroque trumpet player. One of his proudest achievements was performing and recording the complete Bach and Buxtehude Cantata cycle with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under Ton Koopman. This, together with the rest of his discography, makes him one of the world’s most recorded trumpet players.
Stephen teaches the natural and piccolo trumpets at Guildhall School and the modern trumpet at Radley College, an aspect of his career he enjoys very much and is looking to develop in the coming years.
