Detta Danford: Guildhall Associate

Detta Danford

Detta is a musician, coach and educator with a diverse practice. Her work is often collaborative - working with individuals and groups and within community and multi-disciplinary settings. She brings openness, curiosity and creativity to all areas of her practice and is committed to enabling people to find new connections and insights and to generate ideas, action and change.

Detta's coaching practice has grown out of her work at the Guildhall school where she has been working as a coach and mentor since 2011. Detta holds the ILM Level 7 Diploma in Executive Coaching and is accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at practitioner level.

In recent years, Detta has worked in partnership with several arts organisations to develop new programmes for coaching and mentoring, these include Barbican Guildhall Creative Learning and Aldeburgh Young Musicians. From 2016 - 2018 she was a member of a research group established by the Joint European Masters program, New Audiences and Innovative Practice (NAIP), researching coaching and mentoring practices in relation to higher education in the arts.

Detta works with clients from many different backgrounds and sectors. Most recently she has been working with young and early career professionals, those experiencing a new role, and those experiencing a change in their working lives, particularly women and men who are preparing for maternity or paternity leave or returning to work after a period of leave.
