About How to Write a Marketing Plan in Six Weeks

This new six-week online evening course will give you the tools to write a marketing plan. With a focus on learning-by-doing, each week will cover a different aspect of marketing. The course will explore key topics that are integral to building a marketing plan, such as identifying your target audience, messaging and media selection.

Who is the course for?

Early career marketing professionals and anybody looking to gain an understanding of marketing for their job.

What can I expect?

Six weekly practical and collaborative workshops in which you will learn some marketing techniques and experience, which you will put into practice using a real-life case study relevant to your work.

Topics will include:

  • Overview of marketing
  • Marketing planning process
  • Customers and audiences
  • Messaging
  • Channel/media selection

Do I need anything for the course?

  • We will use Miro during the course (Miro is a virtual whiteboard and visual platform). Before joining please make sure that you can use Miro on your device (it will be free for you to use Miro during the sessions).
  • You will be asked to think about a project or product relevant to your work that needs promoting (the project or product can be imaginary if necessary). You will use this as a case study throughout the course.
  • Something to take notes with.

Eligibility

    Online Short Courses Requirements

    All sessions will take place online using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to you in advance of the course start date with further instructions.

    To participate in online classes you will need the following:

    • An email address
    • A reliable internet connection
    • A laptop/tablet/desktop computer with a microphone and camera (most have these included)
    • Speakers/headphones (the speakers in your laptop/tablet/computer should be sufficient)
    • A fully updated web browser able to use the most up to date version of Zoom, or a fully updated Zoom client

    About the Course Tutor

    The course is taught by Andrew Marcus.

    Andrew Marcus is a brand, marketing, communications and strategy consultant. He was previously Chief Communications and Digital Officer at the Museum of London and has also worked at the Science Museum and two global consultancies.

    He is an accredited coach and facilitator, charity trustee and holds fellowships with Clore Leadership and the Royal Society of Arts.
