*Equivalent to UK school years 8–11. We are happy to accept participants who will be in Year 8 in September but will turn 12 in July/August.

About Acting Intensive for Ages 12–15: Online
This one-week online course will develop your acting skills and give you an insight into professional actor training in a fun, welcoming and creative environment. You will participate in practical acting classes including voice, movement, imagination and text, and have the opportunity to work with your peers, learn from industry professionals and connect with your own creativity.
Who is the course for?
- Anyone aged 12–15 with an enthusiasm for acting
- No previous experience is necessary
What can I expect?
You will work in a group led by a professional acting teacher. Although the course is online, all of the work will be practical.
Sessions will include:
- Voice and singing (don't panic — no solo singing!)
- Movement
- How to stretch your imagination muscles
- Improvisation
Do I need anything for the course?
- A space to work in — ideally with enough room around you to move about
- Pen/pencil
- Paper
- Set texts may need to be purchased (details to be confirmed)

Eligibility
- For everyone aged 12–15.*
- No previous experience is necessary.
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.

Online Short Courses Requirements
All sessions will take place online using Zoom. A Zoom link will be sent to you in advance of the course start date with further instructions.
To participate in online classes you will need the following:
- An email address
- A reliable internet connection
- A laptop/tablet/desktop computer with a microphone and camera (most have these included)
- Speakers/headphones (the speakers in your laptop/tablet/computer should be sufficient)
- A fully updated web browser able to use the most up to date version of Zoom, or a fully updated Zoom client

About the Course Tutor
You will work with a project director appointed by the course leader. This will be confirmed near to the course start date.
This course has been developed by Emily Berrington.
Emily trained in acting at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has since worked extensively on stage and screen. Her credits include Children’s Children and Machinal (Almeida Theatre), Dead Funny (Vaudeville Theatre), 24 (Fox/Sky), Outnumbered (BBC), The Inbetweeners 2 Movie (Bwark/Film 4), Humans (AMC/C4).
Emily sits on Guildhall School's audition panel and has been running workshops for actors for a number of years, including Guildhall BA and MA Acting students, youth drama groups and The Actor’s Centre.
