Evi Nakou

Born in Thessaloniki, Greece, Evi Nakou obtained her BMus Flute (2009) and Music Theory Diploma (2009) as well as her MMus Musicology and Music Pedagogy (Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Music Studies, A.U.T.H.) (2011). In July 2013 she graduated from MMus Leadership at Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Distinction.
Evi is the founder of ontoSonics, a platform for collaborative practice that merges art and research in the field of immersive performance/installation arts, in the UK and Greece. ontoSonics explores human experience as the stimulus for creative process by voicing people's unheard stories through performance and installation art.
As a flutist and performer, Evi has concentrated on the performance of new music and improvisation, has recorded music for theatre and cinema and performed in Barbican Centre, Wigmore Hall and Thessaloniki Concert Hall among others. As a workshop leader, she is working for the Barbican Creative Learning and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and in the past she worked for the NY Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC and the Philharmonia orchestra. As a flutist and a workshop leader she has been an artist-in residence in Argentina, Greece, Palestine and the U.S.A., amongst others.
