Salida Productions | Ed Hughes

Ed Hughes trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama as an Actor and has kept close ties to the School since leaving by teaching Argentinean Tango and Salsa for the last 12 years on the Acting Course and Summer School (Thanks to a Fox Foundation Bursary to study Tango in Buenos Aires). He has been working as a professional actor for 14 years in theatre, television and film including the Olivier nominated "This House" (National Theatre), "Democracy" (Old Vic and Crucible Theatre), "Wallander" (BBC and Leftbank) and is currently filming the TV series "An Honourable Woman" (Drama Republik).
Ed is the Founder and Co-Artistic Director of Salida Productions (www.salidaproductions.com - an East London Theatre and Film Company) with Andrea Peláez which has been awarded a Stage One New Producers Bursary and UNESCO High Achievement for "Romeo and Juliet" (Mercury Theatre) with Astillero Tango Orchestra from Argentina which Ed directed and co-produced. Salida's Projects include "Mayakovsky: The Slanting Rain" (RSC), "Formby" (Currently on a UK Tour and touring in 2014), "Gutter Junky" (Edinburgh Festival) and a film "Farmer and the Shepherd".
Andrea Peláez is a dancer, choreographer and movement director and is Co-Artistic Director of Salida Productions with Guildhall graduate Ed Hughes
Andrea, was born in Bogotá. in 2009, she was invited by Kneehigh Theatre Company to do an artist residence. In London she has been in work experience with Akram Khan Dance Company and Blind Summit. In 2010 worked as an actress and dancer for the film and theatre company Salida Productions in “Romeo and Juliet” with Astillero Tango orchestra and in "Gutter Junky” at the Edinburgh Theatre Festival 2011, the same year she created the international dance project for Peace One Day One Day One Dance, supported by English National Ballet and Flawless and won the best choreographed play at CASA Theatre Festival "Private Thoughts in Public Spaces" nominated for a LUKAS award 2012.
In 2013 Andrea worked with Future Cinema for Saturday Night Fever and Dirty Dancing productions. The same year she performed and assisting the Choreographer Francesca Jaynes in the film “The Muppets Most Wanted” directed by James Bobin filming at Pinewood Studios. Was the Movement Director for “Speed Twins” at Riverside Studios and “Fu Manchu Complex” at Oval House and was the Dance Consultant for Lee Evans for Barking in Essex West End.
On 2014 she is currently on rehearsals for the “Avengers” Marvel film as dancer and she will be the Choreographer and Movement Director of “ Macbeth” by the National Youth Theatre.
