The Capet Collective | Marisa Gupta

After graduating with the Diplôme de Soliste from the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève in Switzerland, pianist Marisa Gupta undertook doctoral research at the Guildhall School. Her research focused on interpretative practices in the piano music of the Catalan composer Frederic Mompou, supervised by Barry Ife and Joan Havill. As a soloist and chamber musician she has appeared in some of the world’s premier venues: The Wigmore Hall, The Southbank Centre, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Barcelona’s Palau de la Música, Bucharest’s Ateneul Roman, and many others. She has been a prize winner in numerous competitions including the Viotti International Piano Competition (Vercelli) and the International Concours Maria Canals (Barcelona). She was also a recipient of a Solti Foundation Grant and a Fulbright scholarship. In 2013 she was named a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Marisa’s enterprise, the Capet Collective, expands upon her doctoral research into interpretative practices, applying it to the realm of chamber music. The Capet Collective is group of musicians devoted to performing a wide variety of chamber music repertory. Its earliest endeavours will be an exploration of the expressive possibilities in late Romantic and early 20th century repertoire, offering an alternative to modern day approaches towards familiar repertoire.
