ABC of Opera | Mark Llewelyn Evans

ABC of Opera provides fully interactive and engaging workshops for school children of all ages during which they will participate in singing and drama.

Mark Llewelyn Evans trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and The National Opera Studio, London. He has sung title roles for national opera companies for over 20 years and has seen how enriching opera can be when introduced at an early age. His passion and belief that “opera is for everyone” prompted the pilot of ABC at Sark’s inaugural opera festival in 2015.

Mark’s diverse and exciting career has included many title roles on prestigious opera stages and concert venues worldwide as well as working with Guy Ritchie on the movie A Game of Shadows. Mark's debut album reached the top 10 in the UK classical charts. Tell my Father, a charity single and a collaboration with the Band of the Welsh Guards, became a number one in the UK, benefitting the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal.

He has presented for BBC Radio Wales, hosted The Duke of Edinburgh’s International World Fellowship Awards, and the St David’s Day Celebrations in Singapore.  Mark sang at the National Film Awards 2015. Mark is the Founder and Artistic Director of Opera Sark as well as Creative Director of ABC of Opera.

“Music has the power of forming the character and should therefore be introduced into the education of the young.”  Aristotle
