Real Voices | Becky Chalmers

Launched by Becky Chalmers in May 2016, Real Voices is a forward-thinking, vibrant choir that celebrates the fact that all voices are unique. Although our members have varying levels of musical experience they all share a desire to achieve high musical standards collectively and challenge themselves as individuals.

Bold and authentic, Real Voices performs unique, fairly complex arrangements of popular music in up to eight parts. In the spirit of keeping everything as ‘real’ as possible, there is never a backing track in sight! Real Voices performs with professional instrumentalists and collaborates with up and coming singer-songwriters to create new and engaging musical experiences for singers and audience members alike.

This year will be an exciting period of expansion for Real Voices as we launch initiatives intended to offer high quality singing opportunities to a wider range of people. With the mission of bringing communities together through group singing, these new projects will range in style and will take place in environments as diverse as offices, pubs and street festivals.

Becky Chalmers enjoys a varied career as a Musical Director and Animateur. After graduating from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with an MMus in Flute Performance, Becky spent two years developing community music projects on the Caribbean island of Montserrat before returning to London where she specialises in choral and orchestral outreach.
