Poetic Impact

Poetic Impact was originally set up to produce poetry and spoken word projects, support emerging poets with creating content and to promote cross arts collaboration whilst developing a wider and inclusive audience for the artform along the way.

Working with marginalised groups and socially engaged artists, Poetic Impact are now transforming into a creative producing company that share humanising stories of marginalised groups and the social issues affecting them through creative projects. As well as entertainment, Poetic Impact’s projects will provide self and artistic development, employment opportunities, raise awareness of issues and build evidence for the strengths of the arts as a social prescription. Poetic Impact’s current project is their online open mic – Poetry Booth Sessions. In development is a play ‘Twisted Lanes’ and ‘Collection’, a fashion and poetry project. In the past they have delivered creative workshops with community groups and run ‘Klaxon’, a Poetry and music entertainment night which audience members also get to write their own poems/lyrics.

Celestina Rowaiye and Theresa Lake are co-founders of Poetic Impact. Theresa is a filmmaker and writer, and Celestina is a poet and producer. They both also have experience in the charity and social care sector, specifically in mental health, criminal justice, homelessness and young people services. Their passion for the arts and social issues is where Poetic Impact stems from.
