Walthamstow Garden Party

Walthamstow Garden Party is a free two-day festival in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow, developed jointly through a partnership between Barbican, London Borough of Waltham Forest (LBWF), Create and the local community. Our common vision is to develop inspiring arts experiences, which are accessible to all.

In 2017 the event attracted over 30,000 people across the weekend, involving over 70 local arts organisations, businesses and community groups and more than 460 young people. Through the event, Barbican and LBWF are committed to supporting emerging professionals and young people in Waltham Forest to develop and share ambitious work, form innovative collaborations and develop new skills.

Now in its fifth year and looking towards 2019 and Waltham Forest’s year as Borough of Culture we want to continue to explore how a major international arts centre, local authority and local community can work together.

Lara Deffense is Local Programme and Partnerships Manager for the Barbican and London Borough of Waltham Forest. She manages the Creative Citizen Fellowship programme working with 8 local creatives from Waltham Forest and oversees the local partners’ programme at the Walthamstow Garden Party. More information on the Creative Citizen Fellowship programme can be found here: sites.barbican.org.uk/creativecitizens/
