New dates for a face-to-face course are yet to be confirmed, but please join our mailing list to keep in touch and receive news about future dates & new courses.
Join us for an inspiring and challenging weekend led by members of the renowned flute, cello and piano trio Enigma 14. Participants will form trios with like-minded musicians to explore great works by composers including Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, and a few gems of the 20th century by Martinu and William Alwyn, guided by the expert coaching of the tutors. The supportive approach will allow you to grow your skills both as an individual and as part of a chamber group, with the course culminating in an informal concert for family and friends.
Participants will receive coaching on the selected repertoire, as well as more generally on chamber and individual performance and rehearsal technique. Plus, Julian, Lisa and Lydia will deliver a short performance exclusively for course participants.
You can sign up as an individual flautist, cellist or pianist – or if you already have a trio of that nature then you are welcome to all sign up (though please note you will each need to make individual online applications).
Ability to sight-read is helpful but not required, repertoire suggestions will be sent out in advance.
We recommend a minimum standard of ABRSM Grade 6 (or equivalent).
Both individuals and groups are welcome.
Applicants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.
About the course tutors
Enigma14 (Lisa Nelsen, flute; Julian Metzger, cello; and joining us for this session, Lydia Scadding, piano) have come together out of a passion for performing chamber music which is under the horizon of many audiences. The combination of wind, strings and piano offers intense tone colours, and shows the almost vocal power of communication between them.
