About Acting Intensive for ages 18+: Online

This one-week online acting course will give you an insight into actor training by exploring the fundamentals of acting in a supportive environment. Working with a range of tutors, this will be an opportunity for you to try out, stretch or flex your acting muscles. You will take part in a series of stand-alone, craft-based masterclasses followed by intensive rehearsals, which will culminate in a final sharing on the last day.

Who is the course for?

  • Anyone with a passion for acting. The course is open to 18+ but there is no upper age limit.
  • No previous professional experience is needed, but a willingness and desire to share your work with your peers is a necessity in order to participate fully.

What can I expect?

The course has a strong practical focus — learning by doing. You can expect to cover topics including:

  • Acting technique
  • Voice
  • Movement
  • Audition technique
  • Acting online
  • Contemporary text
  • Scene study

Each group (maximum 14) will be led by a dedicated director.

An online meet and greet session (one hour) will be organised a week before the start of the course as an opportunity for you to meet with the course tutors and course leader.

Do I need anything for the course?

  • A quiet, private space to work from in order to gain the most from the course.
  • The ability to print off materials or a second device to work from.
  • A good microphone and decent lighting (e.g. ring light) would be beneficial.
  • Set texts to be purchased (details to be confirmed).

Course Fee

£595

Eligibility

  • For everyone aged 18+.
  • No previous professional experience is needed.
  • Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.

About the Course Tutor

This course has been developed by Simon Money. One half of the Voice Department at the National Theatre, where he supports productions across the three stages, Simon spent two years apprenticed to Patsy Rodenburg at Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating with an MA in Training Actors (Voice). A passionate advocate of actor training, Simon teaches voice and accents at Guildhall and LAMDA alongside his work at the National Theatre and a busy freelance diary. Throughout a varied career, which has included work at the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Royal Opera House and theatres regional and international, Simon has fostered a reputation for collaboration, rigour and integrity.

You will also work with additional industry professionals appointed by the course leader.
