Biography

Geoff Gascoyne has been a professional bass player for almost 30 years. He has played with too many names to mention them all - including Georgie Fame, Van Morrison, Mulgrew Miller, US3, Everything But the Girl, Michel Legrand, Benny Golson, Bill Bruford, Bob Dorough, Mari Wilson, Eddie Izzard, Mingus Big Band, Sting, Jim Mullen, Sir Willard White, Dianne Reeves, Guy Barker, Eartha Kitt and Jamie Cullum, for whom he was musical director and chief arranger for seven years.

Geoff has appeared on over 50 recordings and has toured the world many times. He has performed in a West End stage show directed by Sir Peter Hall and featured in a Hollywood movie directed by Anthony Mingella (both times playing a jazz musician). He has recorded six CDs as a band leader to date and has arranged music for countless others.

Geoff is also a keen educator and is Head of Bass at London School of Contemporary Music and teaches at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Geoff is married to Australian jazz singer Trudy Kerr, has four children, two dogs and lives in Kent.
