Guildhall Young Artists Taunton Lunchtime Performances
Lunchtime Performances
Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Taunton hosts free lunchtime performances by its own students as well as students and alumni from Guildhall School of Music & Drama, as well as professional artists visiting the Southwest.
These events are open to all GYA Taunton students and their families. We also very much welcome anyone who is not a GYA Taunton member and interested to find out more about our performing arts centre.
GYA Taunton events are relaxed and informal and you are welcome to bring some lunch with you whilst you enjoy the performance.

Join us for this free lunchtime performance by Jayden Lamcellari (cello) and Julian Chan (piano), both undergraduates at Royal Academy of Music. This performance is in collaboration with Leonie Anderson and Barkham Performance Venue, South Molton, Devon.

About Jayden Lamcellari
As described by the Irish Examiner, Jayden Lamcellari is quickly gaining traction for his unique approach towards solo and chamber music performance. The London-based cellist has won several international competitions including the 1st Prize and Grand Prize at the Soloists of New England International Competition as well as 1st places at the New York Concerti Sinfonia Competition, Vienna International Music Competition and Gustav Mahler Competition. The young cellist has also been awarded the Piatti Prize at the Royal Academy of Music, London to celebrate the 200th birthday of Alfredo Piatti and was a finalist at the Haslemere International String Competition. Jayden has also performed as a soloist in some of the world’s most prestigious concert venues.
In 2018, at age 15 he gave his Carnegie Hall Debut with the New York Concerti Sinfonia as well as a second performance, performing cello duets with his Father Enrien Lamcellari. In 2019, Jayden returned to give his 3rd performance at Carnegie Hall. He has also been invited to perform at other prestigious venues such as Wigmore Hall, Lincoln Centre, Musikverein Vienna, Cadogan Hall Aram Khachaturian Hall Armenia, St. James Church Piccadilly, National Concert Hall of Ireland and Ulster Hall.
Most recently, Jayden has performed and competed at Wigmore Hall where he was awarded the Homan Potterton Award generously supported by Irish Heritage UK. Soon after, Jayden competed at the 110th anniversary of Ireland's biggest music competition Feis Ceoil, where he went on to claim the title of the most awards won by a competitor in a single year (4). As well as studying at the Junior Royal Academy of Music with Professor Bozidar Vukotic, Jayden is now the recipient of the Derek Simpson Award at the Royal Academy of Music and currently studies with Professor Christoph Richter.

About Julian Chan
Rapidly developing a reputation as one of the most innovative pianists of his generation, Julian Chan has given performances at a number of prestigious venues across the UK, including Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre. Performing music by a particularly diverse range of composers, he has given alluring recitals featuring works by figures from Sweelinck to Messiaen, from Alkan to Rzewski, unifying these various styles in a captivating manner.
Recently, Julian was awarded First Prize and Sonata Prize at the Nanyang International Music Competition, Singapore, Second Prize at the Jāzeps Vītols International Piano Competition, Latvia, and First Prize at the Coulsdon and Purley Festival performing Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto. A passionate composer and performer of new music, Julian has collaborated with eminent composers such as Hans Abrahamsen, Deborah Pritchard, and Peter Seabourne.
Julian is currently recipient of the Ronald and Rita McAulay Award at the Royal Academy of Music, where he studies with Ian Fountain and Michael Dussek.
