Biography

Susanna Stranders is Head of Music Staff for Garsington Opera. After graduating from University of Exeter with first-class honours in music, Susanna studied at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and University of Cincinnati, winning many accompanist prizes. She was répétiteur for Cincinnati Opera, San Francisco Opera’s Merola Programme, and a member of the Houston Grand Opera Studio, Texas. Susanna was on the Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

She has since worked regularly for the ROH, Glyndebourne Festival, New York City Opera, the Salzburg Festival, the Philharmonia, the London Symphony Orchestra and the Taipei Symphony Orchestra. Susanna has accompanied leading singers and instrumentalists in recital performances and has broadcast live for the BBC on both television and radio. She also plays with the Ellipsis ensemble.

A passionate educator, Susanna is a vocal coach at several leading conservatoires, leads masterclasses around the world, and adjudicates on audition and competition panels. She is an official pianist for the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition, the National Youth Chamber Orchestra of GB and is a trustee for the Harpenden Music Foundation.
