How to apply

If you were intending to apply for a live overseas audition in Asia, you must apply online and should instead choose ‘recorded’ as your audition venue. The deadline for applications is 3 October 2022.
The deadline for applications for live auditions in New York is 1 December 2022.
Please note, applications will be closed temporarily from Monday 3 October until 10am on Tuesday 11 October 2022. If you have already commenced an application, you will be able to complete and submit the form when applications re-open on Tuesday 11 October.
Asia Auditions
Due to travel uncertainty, it is with regret that we are unable to travel to our overseas venues in Asia for the 2023/24 application cycle, for study commencing September 2023.
If you were intending to apply for a live overseas audition in Asia, you must apply online and should instead choose ‘recorded’ as your audition venue.
The deadline for applications is 3 October 2022. Submitting a recorded audition will not impact on the result of your application.
We very much hope to travel to our Asia venues for the 2024/25 entry cycle.
New York
Live auditions in New York are due to be held on the below dates, subject to travel restrictions in place at the time. If we are subsequently unable to travel to the US for live auditions, New York candidates will be offered the opportunity to submit a recorded audition video instead.
New York is not available as an audition venue for all Music programmes. Please note, applicants for the following programmes/instruments will not be able to audition in New York:
- Timpani/Percussion
- Harpsichord
- Fortepiano (historical)
- Opera
- Electronic and Produced Music
- Chamber Music. Applicants interested in applying for Chamber Music should contact Jen Pitkin directly at music_applications@gsmd.ac.uk
- Composition. For composers applying to the BMus or Guildhall Artist programme selection is based on an initial evaluation of a submitted portfolio of compositions, following which applicants may then be called for interview.

Jazz applicants may attend an overseas audition, however a backing band or back line cannot be provided. If you wish to audition overseas for a jazz course, please bring your own instruments and musicians. A piano will be provided.
