Music Auditions Overseas
Candidates auditioning for September 2027 entry can attend live audition in London, Hong Kong, China, Seoul, Tokyo, and New York. Details about the overseas auditions can be found below.

Audition requirements

PLEASE NOTE: all overseas auditions take place in a SINGLE ROUND. You should prepare all listed items on the relevant department's auditions page (linked above), from which the panel will select items to hear.
How to apply
Asia Auditions
Application Deadline: 1 October 2026
Eligibility for audition
Please note, applicants for the following programmes/disciplines will not be able to audition live in Asia:
- Classical Percussion/Timpani
- Jazz Drums/Percussion
- Jazz Composition and Arranging
- Harpsichord
- Fortepiano
- Opera
- Joint Vocal/Opera applicants (note that Vocal applicants can audition in overseas venues)
- Electronic and Produced Music
- Selection is based on an initial evaluation of a submitted portfolio of compositions, following which successful applicants will be called for interview via Zoom.
- Composition
- Selection is based on an initial evaluation of a submitted portfolio of compositions, following which successful applicants will be called for interview in London or via Zoom, as appropriate.
- Repetiteurs
Music Therapy applicants may attend an initial live audition in one of our overseas venues, however, any candidates who successfully pass this stage of the process must attend the interview day in London (usually in April time). Full details about the process can be found on the Music Therapy 'auditions' webpage.
Accompanists
Candidates must supply their own accompanists for overseas auditions.
Jazz applicants may attend an overseas audition, however a backing band or back line is not provided. Please bring your own instruments and musicians, or a backing track and appropriate playback device. A piano will be provided.
Soloists (Collaborative Piano)
Candidates applying for Collaborative Piano (Piano Accompaniment) must supply their own soloists for overseas auditions. Please see the Collaborative Piano (Piano Accompaniment) auditions webpage for further details.
