About Introduction to Screen Acting
This two-day course will introduce you to the techniques and skills required for acting in film and television. Learn key techniques including how to prepare for a scene, be present and how to connect with your scene partner, to give authentic and truthful performances.
Who is this course for?
- Anyone aged 18 and over interested in acting for screen.
- There is no upper age limit on this course. We encourage and welcome participants from all ages 18 and over.
What can I expect?
You can expect to:
- Explore the differences between acting for stage and screen
- Learn how to analyse a scene quickly and accurately
- How to prepare for a scene
- Work on short, scripted scenes
- Learn about visual storytelling
- Draw on your own life experience using the mindset technique
- Utilize your imagination to bring an inner life to characters
- Develop your confidence in front of a camera
Some preparation work including reading and learning short, scripted scenes, will be required as part of the course.
Do I need anything for the course?
A notebook, pen and lots of enthusiasm.

Eligibility
- For everyone aged 18+. We encourage and welcome participants from all ages 18 and over.
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills to cope with course demands.
About the Course Tutor
This course is taught by Ryan Laccohee.
Ryan is an experienced actor, director, screenwriter, acting coach and lecturer. Since graduating from ArtsEd in 1998, he has appeared in several theatre, television and film productions, such as Maisie Raine, Coronation Street, A&E and Silent Witness, and voiced TV commercials, documentaries and corporate communications, video games and museum installations.
Ryan is currently Senior Screen Acting tutor at Identity School of Acting and has also taught at Guildhall School, ArtsEd, City Academy London, MN Academy, ICAT and Stageworks.
Ryan has a BA in Media Production and an MA in Writing for Script and Screen.
