About Singers' Weekend: Jazz, Gospel & World Music

This two-day course, led by Scott Stroman and Guildhall’s Jazz vocal team, focuses on jazz, gospel, world and popular music. You will learn songs both as a large ensemble and in smaller vocal groups. There will also be an opportunity to perform individually should you wish to.

Who is the course for?

Anyone of any age from 16+ with a passion for singing. You do not need to be able to read music to attend, as all songs will be taught by ear.

What can I expect?

You can expect to learn a variety of songs whilst developing your stylistic, rhythmic and harmonic awareness. The course will cover techniques in using a microphone, movement and vocal exercises. The workshop will culminate in a recorded performance, which will be accompanied by a band on Sunday evening.

Do I need anything for the course?

If you own a microphone and cable, please bring it to the course (not essential).

“Wonderful. Both Scott and Brigitte were fabulously clear and concise. They made us all feel great about what we were doing and pushed us to be bigger and better.”

– Lara, Singers' Weekend, 2021
