Auditioning for the Acting Programme

Who can apply?

We encourage applicants from a wide range of ages and backgrounds to audition for our Acting programme. Our students are selected on merit by audition which means it is not necessary to have any previous acting experience.

When you begin your training with us, you should normally be at least 18 years old. Most students are a few years older and there is no upper age limit.

Applications from overseas applicants are welcomed. Current and recent international students have come from Argentina, Australia, Bermuda, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, Israel, Japan, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain and the United States. To apply, you must be completely fluent in the English Language (the equivalent of a minimum IELTS Academic for UKVI score of 7.5).

Diversity of people and of thought is an enriching and vital part of theatre-making. We welcome applications from individuals with disabilities and encourage you to disclose relevant information regarding any disability when completing your application form. This will enable us to provide additional support to you during the audition process.

Please note: from 2022 entry, there is no longer a limit on the maximum number of previous applications that an individual can make.

Our application and audition process

Applications for 2024 entry to our BA Acting programme open on 29 September 2023.

The application process involves a three-stage audition: the first round audition, the second round audition and the final recall audition. You must pass each stage in order to proceed to the next.

First round auditions are by submission of an audition video.

After you have submitted your application you will receive instructions about how to send us your audition video. It may take up to six weeks before you hear from us.

Second round auditions will take place in person in London and regional locations (to be confirmed).

Final recall auditions will take place in person, in London. If you are unable to attend the final recall auditions, you cannot be considered for a place on the Acting programme.
