Enjoy advanced orchestral experience
Established in 1959, Norfolk county Youth Orchestra (NCYO) is the top orchestra for advanced young musicians in Norfolk. On our autumn course, under the direction of dynamic conductor and music educator Andy Morley, NCYO musicians will get the chance to:
- Play a wide range of music including key orchestral repertoire
- Work with experienced conductors and soloists
- Develop leadership, teamwork skills, and confidence
- Meet other young musicians from across Norfolk and beyond
- Gain performance experience playing in a public concert at the end of the course
Applicants should have reached at least Grade 6 on their instrument, which should be demonstrated via the answers on their application form and at audition.
Membership of NCYO will be subject to a successful audition. Details on application.
On our autumn NCYO course, students get the chance to learn and perform a number of musical pieces including:
Hector Berlioz Le Corsaire Overture
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto
Malcolm Arnold Little Suite for Orchestra
Robert Schumann Symphony No. 4
NCYO bursaries are means tested and open to students who can demonstrate real financial need.
Bursaries are awarded on a means-tested basis, and any student living in a household with a residual income of less that £60,000 may apply. The residual household income is the total gross taxable income from the household, reducing that by the amount of Private Pension Plans, AVC’s, or other taxable allowances which is then further reduced by £1,130 for each child/student in the household who are financially dependent on the family.
To apply for a bursary for NCYO, simply fill out our application form and tick the relevant box in the finance and fees section.
If you qualify for a NYCO bursary, you can also get 30% off the course fees for one or more siblings who join any of our courses.
