About the Vocals & Drama Course
Our dynamic Vocals & Drama Course is designed for students aged 11–18 who are ready explore their creative potential, build confidence and express themselves through voice.
Students will work in age-appropriate groups and take part in three practical sessions each week.
Acting – Through physical and vocal exercises, improvisation and scene work, students will uncover the craft of story-telling while developing their performance skills.
Singing – Working in a small ensemble, students will explore a wide range of musical genres – developing vocal techniques, expanding vocal range and building core musicianship. With a focus on harmony, melody and authentic expression, singers will gain the tools to find their unique voice.
Arts Lab – Creativity and collaboration are central to GYA King’s Cross training approach, and the Arts Lab Ensemble is designed to nurture student’s creativity, artistry and identity. Collaborating with other students and tutors, these sessions will focus on innovation, exploring new contemporary styles and approaches to music making and performance.
This course is ideal for beginners, curious creatives and aspiring vocalists or performers looking to deepen their skills in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment. The training evolves through the year, adapting to the interests and strengths of the ensemble group.
As part of the GYA King’s Cross community, students will collaborate with music, drama and production arts students to create innovative, original performances throughout the year. These will be staged at the centre and other arts venues.
Starting at 10am and finishing at 1pm, students on the Vocals & Drama Course will have two hours, 40 minutes of lesson time (with two 10-minute breaks).
