If I want to study Music, do I need to play an instrument?
Yes, for all Music programmes, you will need to be already learning and playing an instrument.
- Discovery Music: You should be playing at approximately Grade 1 - 2 level at the time of enrolment. If you have not taken formal grade exams, this is the equivalent to one year of regular individual tuition.
- Senior Music: You should be playing at approximately Grade 3 level at the time of enrolment. If you have not taken formal grade exams, this is roughly equivalent to two years of regular individual tuition.
All students enrolled on a Music Programme are also required to have their own instrument.
What happens next?
Once you've reviewed and accepted the course timetable, we'll ask you to complete an enrolment form and pay a five-week deposit/trial fee.
All new students benefit from a five-week trial period (payable) upon joining. This means you'll only have to pay for the initial five weeks instead of committing to a full term, giving you time to decide if GYA King's Cross is the right fit for you.
After the five-week trial period:
- If you decide to continue: The remaining fees will become due
- If you decide to withdraw: No further fees will be charged
