Mahler 6
The Fidelio Orchestra returns to Milton Court Concert Hall for a performance of Mahler's 6th Symphony, conducted by Raffaello Morales.
Promoted by Fidelio Orchestra.
Programme
Gustav Mahler Symphony no. 6 in A minor
Fidelio Orchestra
Raffaello Morales conductor
Founded in 2019, the Fidelio Orchestra has quickly established itself as a vibrant presence in London’s classical music scene. It brings together people with a shared commitment to making great music in an atmosphere that is both joyful and refreshingly unpretentious.
By including non-professional players alongside emerging professionals, the Fidelio Orchestra fosters a space where performing historical repertoire is not only a professional pursuit, but also a powerful way to connect the world of classical music with broader society.
Run as a charity since incorporation in 2020, the orchestra is dedicated to providing young musicians with high-quality orchestral experience and opportunities to collaborate with exceptional soloists. Since 2025 its charitable purpose is furthered by the establishment of outreach programmes in collaboration with schools across London.
Despite being written at the prime time of his life, Mahler’s sixth symphony carries with it all the foreboding signs of the tragic circumstances that will follow a few years later. The symphony is arguably Mahler’s most daring work for its deliberate defying of resolution, whilst maintaining an overall tonal structure.
