Event information

Led by current Guildhall jazz student and bassist Lucy Clarke and alumnus Mark Fincham, this Guildhall Jazz department showcase before the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra & Chorus concert will pay tribute to the late great genius bassist of British jazz Ron Mathewson.

Featuring original arrangements of compositions that Mathewson recorded with The Ray Russell Quartet, Amalgam, Gordon Beck’s Gyroscope, Harry Beckett’s S & R Powerhouse Section and Kenny Wheeler, this Showcase will offer the chance to see Clarke and Fincham perform on Ron Mathewson’s double bass, bequeathed to Guildhall School to benefit future generations of jazz students.
