Event information
Experience the next generation of orchestral talent in this concert conducted by Julian Clayton, in a richly varied programme spanning impressionistic colour, sparkling virtuosity and symphonic power.
Charles Tomlinson Griffes’ The Pleasure Dome of Kubla Khan conjures a dreamlike soundworld inspired by Coleridge’s poetry, while Kendra Barron - 2024 winner of Junior Guildhall's prestigious Lutine Prize - takes centre stage for Ibert’s effervescent Flute Concerto.
The concert also features Shostakovich’s monumental Symphony No 11 (“The Year 1905”), a work of striking drama and haunting beauty.
