Guildhall BIG Double Reed Day
Visit Guildhall School of Music & Drama on Sunday 2 November 2025 for our BIG Double Reed Day.
A vibrant, full-day celebration of all things oboe and bassoon, this event brings together double reed players from across the UK for a day of performing and learning - musical exploration, inspiration and connection.
Designed for musicians aged 15–18, those in full-time education, and adult players, the day offers a rich and varied programme, including:
- Instrument-specific masterclasses
- Ensemble playing and chamber music
- Reed-making classes
- Doubling and Baroque instruments
- Opportunities to meet and play alongside Guildhall professors and guest artists
It will culminate in a collaborative performance, bringing participants together for a shared musical experience in the Silk Street Music Hall.
Throughout the day, you’ll also be able to explore a curated selection of trade stands from leading double reed specialists.

The 'Little' BIG Double Reed Day
Running alongside the BIG Double Reed Day are two 'Little' events for players aged 7-14, taking place on 12 October and 2 November. Find out more.
Venue information
Silk Street Theatre, Music Hall and Lecture Recital Room are located in the main Guildhall School building on Silk Street and for Barbican produced events the venue can also be accessed from the Barbican if you exit via the doors next to Barbican Kitchen on Level G.
