Guildhall Jazz Festival x EFG London Jazz Festival: NK Collective: POLISH JAZZ
NK Collective: POLISH JAZZ celebrates the rich and distinctive tradition of Polish jazz, a musical culture that remains underrepresented in the UK despite its profound influence and artistic depth. Drawing inspiration from the lyrical and atmospheric sound world associated with ECM, alongside the many directions Polish jazz has taken over the past several decades, the project explores music that has shaped my identity as both a musician and a Polish artist.
The programme features music spanning several generations of Polish jazz, from influential artists including Tomasz Stańko, Zbigniew Namysłowski, Michał Urbaniak to contemporary voices such as Piotr Wyleżoł, Leszek Możdżer alongside original compositions of my own. Rather than presenting a historical survey, the project traces a personal musical lineage, highlighting the artists whose work continues to inspire my writing, improvisation and approach to contemporary jazz.
Through this performance, NK Collective aims to introduce audiences to the depth, beauty and diversity of Polish jazz while celebrating a musical heritage that deserves far wider recognition.
Part of the School’s annual Jazz Festival, presented in partnership with EFG London Jazz Festival, celebrating the creativity and originality of the Guildhall Jazz community.
