Congratulations to soprano Natalya Romaniw (Opera 2011), who has won the Singer category at the 2020 Royal Philharmonic Society (RPS) Awards. Fellow Guildhall alumnus tenor Nicky Spence (Opera 2009) was also nominated in the category.

This year's awards shortlist also featured a number of other Guildhall alumni and partners among the nominees.

Raymond Yiu (Composition 2014) was nominated in the Chamber-Scale Composition category for his piece Corner of a Foreign Field, while the Barbican Beethoven Weekender is nominated in the Concert Series and Events category. The weekend of Beethoven celebrations featured Ah Ludwig, a presentation of all 25 episodes of this classic children’s animation with revised soundtracks arranged and composed by members of Guildhall School’s Electronic Music department and performed by Guildhall Session Orchestra players.

The winners were announced at the 2020 RPS Awards digital broadcast at 7pm on Wednesday 18 November on the RPS website.
