About Acting for Camera: Level 1
This new six-week evening course offers an introduction to screen acting.
Over the course of six sessions, you will work closely with the course tutor to explore a variety of on-screen acting techniques that will help you to deliver an authentic and truthful performance. Under the guidance of Arinder Sadhra (Guildhall Acting Alumni), you will take part in a variety of practical exercises, including acting on camera.
Who is this course for?
Anyone aged 18 and over:
- Beginners with an interest in acting for screen
- Those starting out on their acting journey who want to explore on‑camera work
- No prior screen acting experience is required.
What can I expect?
- Fun introduction into screen acting and how it differs from stage acting
- Play games and develop being in the moment
- Explore techniques to help you feel more natural and less “performative” on screen
- Practical exercises to improve listening, reacting, imagination and staying present
- Explore embodied character intentions (their wants) and any obstacles they face
- Understand basic camera awareness for performance and visual storytelling
- Work with scripts to build confidence and apply techniques
- Practise consistency across takes and frame sizes introducing continuity
- Filming on camera with supportive feedback

Eligibility
- We welcome participants from all ages 18 and over
- Participants must have sufficient English language skills in order to fully engage with the course
About the Course Tutor
The course is taught by Arinder Sadhra.
Arinder trained at Guildhall School of Music and Drama and has experience in both stage and screen work.
Arinder performed in War Horse – their centenary anniversary national tour; they have performed at The National Theare, the Lyric Hammersmith and Bristol Old Vic.
Their on-screen credits include Boarders, The Witcher, Casualty and Holby City amongst others.
Before acting, Arinder worked across social work and mental health services mainly in the voluntary sector, working one-to-one and facilitating group workshops for both the community and professionals.
Arinder is also a coach in the mental health sector both public and private. Specialising in ADHD, OCD, depression and addiction. Arinder is trained in trauma informed practice.
