Learning online with Guildhall Young Artists

Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) is Guildhall School’s network of centres providing inspiring performing and production arts training for children and young people. Our online centre helps a vibrant international community of young creatives access world-leading performing arts training in the comfort of their own homes. Connecting a network of young creatives from every corner of the globe, GYA Online brings people together to form an international community and learn from industry-leading Guildhall School tutors. We support students in their journey to gain a place at university or a conservatoire, build a creative career and gain confidence to uncover their potential. 

Our online centre offers a broad range of courses and classes in music and drama. We caught up with Neetik, a student based in India who is taking our online Media Music and Production course, for students interested in learning more about how to compose, arrange and mix their own music. 

Why did you choose this course?

I had been researching music schools to study music production and composition at undergraduate level, when I saw that Guildhall had an online programme for young learners. I thought that during my summer holidays I could complete one of their courses. I chose the Media Music and Production Course as my interest and background lies in this field.

What was your favourite part of the course?

Learning new ways to compose music for film and the opportunity to receive advice on my work from professionals who work in the music industry.

What are the benefits of learning online?

I think the ability to teach and learn from people around the world is a game-changer. Gaining different insights and approaches to making and learning music is an additional advantage.

What are the tutors like?

John and Pasha made the topics being taught very easy to understand and interpret. Their feedback on my work was insightful and helped me become a better producer.

What are your musical ambitions for the future?

I want to study music production and composition. Additionally, I hope to compose music for films and video games.
