Set in the beautiful grounds of Freemen's School in Surrey, join us for an exciting drama course where the inspiring environment becomes part of the creative process, encouraging deep focus and creative exploration.

We bring you our first-ever Residential Drama Summer School, taking place in July and August this year, suitable for ages 13-17. We hope to welcome new and returning young people from the UK and around the world for an opportunity to learn together, develop their drama and theatre skills, while making new friends and having fun in the process.

There are two courses running, on the following dates:

  • Monday 13 – Friday 24 July 2026
  • Monday 27 Jul – Friday 7 August 2026

Participants will learn from industry leading tutors, including the course lead, Fred Lancaster, who trained as an actor at Guildhall School of Music & Drama (2010). He worked in the industry for over a decade before obtaining a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from Goldsmiths, University of London. He currently works as a director, acting teacher and workshop facilitator in the UK, US and Europe.

I'm thrilled to be leading Guildhall's first ever Residential Summer School - it promises to be a fun and collaborative experience, all set in the wonderful grounds of Freemen's School.  Students can expect two weeks of hands-on drama training where they'll work with professional directors and tutors, explore different approaches to making theatre and be part of a supportive creative community.

Whether you're interested in devising, physical theatre or contemporary text, there's space here to take risks, discover new skills and create work you're genuinely proud of.

All abilities are welcome, so if you are a young person with a desire to grow in confidence and develop skills in drama and theatre - or if you know someone who would love this opportunity - then we look forward to hearing from you.
