Biography & Pure profile

Since joining Guildhall School of Music & Drama as the Learning Technologist in 2021, Evan Dickerson has overseen an expansion in both the breadth and depth of the strategic use of technologies for teaching, learning and assessment with a particular focus on the use of the Moodle VLE and, more recently, AI. Evan is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE and regularly mentors colleagues at the School towards gaining Fellowship recognition.

Evan's previous learning technology roles include positions at Richmond University London (where he also lectured in Fine Art and Art History), University of Surrey, Birkbeck University of London, University of the Arts London. He was Head of Learning Technology Services at St George’s University of London and Bloomsbury Institute London. At Queen Mary University of London, where he was maternity cover Head of E-Learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, Evan oversaw the pedagogically robust pivot of over 5300 modules delivered by 21 academic schools from face-to-face delivery to online delivery.

For 10 years, Evan worked for Jisc as an external adviser to the senior management teams of several UK universities regarding their use of technology for academic and business purposes. He has also worked in an advisory capacity with universities in Denmark, Malta, Romania and Spain. Evan is on the national steering group for the UK Heads of eLearning Forum and the London region M25 Learning Technology group for the Association for Learning Technology. He has presented many papers at international conferences and contributed four book chapters on learning technology topics published by or in press with Routledge, Sussex Open Press and Logos Verlag Berlin GmbH. Additionally, Evan is an internationally published writer on classical music and opera.
