Biography & Pure profile
Inês Loubet is a Portuguese-born, London-based singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter whose work weaves jazz harmony, Brazilian rhythmic traditions and the spirit of Tropicália into a sound that is both contemporary and deeply rooted. Her debut solo album Senga has been met with critical acclaim, marking her out as a distinctive new voice on the UK jazz and world-music scene.
Her music has received extensive radio support, with tracks championed on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio 3, Jazz FM, Worldwide FM, NTS and more. Known for her warm, agile tone and fearless improvisation, Inês has performed widely across the UK and beyond — from intimate club stages to major festivals — and has shared line-ups and stages with celebrated Brazilian artists including Gilberto Gil and João Bosco.
Press responses to her work have been consistently enthusiastic. Songlines praised her sound as “reminiscent of Brazil’s ground-breaking tropicália era, evocative of the likes of Marisa Monte and Elis Regina.” BBC 6 Music’s Deb Grant described it as “a splash of summertime, beautiful.” Twisted Soul highlighted her “enchanting voice and incredible guitar skills… utterly gorgeous Latin jazz tones,” while Back Seat Mafia commended the “depth and maturity of the song-writing,” her “agile voice” and “soaring vocal improv.”
Inês is also an accomplished educator. She trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, graduating in Jazz Voice with distinction and earning praise from the Anjool Maldé Prize jury for her final recital. She now teaches at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, Leeds Conservatoire, Aldeburgh Young Musicians and other leading music institutions, delivering sessions in jazz voice, improvisation, ensemble leadership, Brazilian rhythm, creative vocal practice and musicianship. Her teaching combines technical clarity, stylistic fluency and a supportive, exploratory approach that empowers singers to develop individuality and confidence.
Balancing a vibrant artistic profile with a committed teaching practice, Inês Loubet stands out as a compelling creative force in the current UK jazz landscape — an artist of depth and authenticity whose work resonates with audiences, collaborators and students alike.
