Biography

John Flinders studied at the University of York and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, and now works as a pianist, accompanist, coach and teacher. He is particularly noted for his performances of the clarinet repertoire and his recordings have been acclaimed by the Sunday Times, Gramophone and BBC Music Magazine; he also has a strong affinity with the classical song repertoire. In 2014 he featured as piano soloist on the soundtrack of the major ITV series The Great War: The People’s Story. Other recent solo performances have included Grieg’s Piano Concerto, Constant Lambert’s The Rio Grande and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto no. 2 in C minor. 

John is a piano teacher, chamber music coach and accompanist at St Paul's Girls' School, is a coach and accompanist in the Junior and Senior Departments of the Guildhall School, and also accompanies the Pink Singers, Europe’s longest-running LGBT+ chorus.
