We’re delighted to welcome acclaimed cellist Laura van der Heijden for a free, open masterclass working with Guildhall cello students.
Recognised as one of the leading cellists of her generation, Laura van der Heijden is celebrated for her deeply perceptive, thoughtful and imaginative musicianship. A recipient of the 2025 Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist Award, she performs regularly with major orchestras and at leading international festivals, alongside a vibrant career as a chamber musician and advocate for new music. Her playing has been praised by BBC Music Magazine as “deeply thoughtful, personal and sincere,” and she is widely admired for her engaging approach to interpretation and collaboration.
The session will last for 3 hours, but audience members are welcome to drop in at any time and they will be admitted at an appropriate moment.
