Guildhall Young Artists Taunton Open Day
If you are interested in joining Guildhall Young Artists (GYA) Taunton we would encourage you to attend our next Open Day on Saturday 11 July.
There are two sessions to choose from, these are split out into two different age groups as follows:
Morning Session 1, 9.30am–12.30pm: for children and young people in Reception up to Year 6 (age 4–11)
Morning Session 2, 11.20am–2.20pm: for children and young people in Years 7–12 (age 11–17)
Both sessions include a guided tour and opportunities to visit different classes and rehearsals. You will also attend a welcome talk and Q&A with the Head of GYA Taunton.
Attendees will be invited to enjoy special vocal and drama performances by current students, as well as chamber music by musicians from Guildhall School.
Open Days are relaxed and informal, and all students are invited to bring a family member or carer with them.
Open Day FAQs
Why should I attend an Open Day?
You’ll get a good sense of life at GYA Taunton when you attend an open day, and it will help you learn more about what the centre offers.
Where is GYA Taunton located?
GYA Taunton is located at Wellington School, Wellington, Somerset. We are based over several buildings on a Saturday: Classroom Block, George Corner Music School, the Chapel, Avenue Building. All spaces are within a 3-minute walk of each other.
Do I have to stay for the entire session?
We recommend that you stay for a full session so you can have a tour of the centre and watch a range of classes and rehearsals, hear from students and members of staff, and enjoy watching a performance. Please arrive promptly for registration (by 9.30am for Morning Session 1, and by 11.20am for Morning Session 2), as latecomers may not be able to join the tour.
I'm a parent/carer and I'd really like to attend with my child. Is that OK?
Absolutely. Visitors under 16 must have an accompanying adult with them. Whilst this is not a requirement for those who are 16 or older, we still very much encourage that an adult is in attendance.
What can I expect from the Open Day? Do I need to bring an instrument?
Our Open Days are shaped to allow visitors to observe classes, rehearsals and performances, view facilities and meet staff, students and parents. You don’t need to bring an instrument.
I have a disability – do I need to let you know?
